Counseling Compact Draft Rules for comment

The Executive Committee has approved Draft Rules to be posted for public comment. The public comment period begins June 18, 2024 and ends on August 11, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MT. The draft rules (legacy licensing and background checks) and information on how to provide public comment are found on the website at https://counselingcompact.org/compact-commission/rulemaking/.

IMPORTANT DATES

July 1, 2016: All LPCC applications received on or after July 1, 2016 require 100 hours of supervision from an LPCC.
July 1, 2016: All applications for Supervisor Certification received on or after July 1, 2016 must include documentation of 30 hours of continuing ed in supervision.
July 1, 2017: All applications for licensure will require a 60 Hr. Masters in Counseling.

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS

According to NDCC § 12-60-24.2, all applicants for licensure shall be required to submit to a statewide and nationwide criminal history check. Once an application for license is received in the board office, the applicant will receive a Criminal History Record Check Request and two (2) fingerprint cards. The applicant will follow the instructions on the Criminal History Record Check Request. All fees associated with obtaining a background check are the responsibility of the applicant.

Fingerprints will be used to check the criminal history records of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Applicants have the opportunity to complete or challenge the accuracy of the information contained in the FBI identification record. The procedure for obtaining a change, correction, or updating an FBI identification record are set forth in Title 28 C.F.R. § 16.34.
